BTS, also known as the Bangtan Boys, is a South Korean boy band formed in 2010 and officially debuting in 2013 under HYBE (formerly Big Hit Entertainment). The seven-member group—Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook—began as a hip hop act before expanding into a wide range of genres. Members actively co-write and co-produce much of their material, with lyrics addressing mental health, youth struggles, self-love, individualism, and the consequences of fame. Their body of work draws on literature, philosophy, and psychology, incorporating an elaborate alternate universe storyline across releases. BTS has become one of the most globally influential K-Pop acts, achieving unprecedented international recognition and reshaping perceptions of Korean popular music worldwide. The group is based in Seoul and remains active under HYBE's roster.
