Fourtwnty

Fourtwnty is a Jakarta-based indie folk band formed in 2014, though sources cite conflicting start dates. Co-founded by Roby Satria of the pop group Geisha, the current lineup includes Ari Lesmana, Nuwi, Roots, Andi Armand, Primandha Ridho, and Ryan Maulana. Their debut album, Lelaku (2015), introduced a folk-pop sound distinguished by poetic Indonesian lyricism on tracks like "Fana Merah Jambu," "Aku Tenang," "Hitam Putih," and "Diam-Diam Kubawa Satu." Emerging during Jakarta's mid-2010s indie wave—a period marked by introspective songwriting and acoustic arrangements—Fourtwnty positioned themselves against the pop-rock mainstream. Operating independently, they cultivated an audience through live performances and digital platforms. Their work blends narrative-driven lyrics with warm, layered folk instrumentation, earning them recognition as a defining act in contemporary Indonesian indie folk.
