NewJeans

NewJeans is a South Korean girl group formed by ADOR, a sub-label of Hybe Corporation, in 2022. The five-member ensemble—Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein—debuted with a distinctly nostalgic approach to K-Pop, drawing on musical and visual aesthetics from the 1990s and 2000s. Formerly produced by Min Hee-jin before internal management shifts, the group cultivated a "girl next door" persona that contrasts with the hyper-stylized imagery dominating contemporary Korean pop. Their sound blends R&B, pop, and dance elements with minimalist production. While NewJeans operates within the Seoul-based K-Pop industry and not the Indonesian music scene, their work is relevant to Indonesian audiences as part of the sustained Hallyu (Korean Wave) influence across Southeast Asia, where K-Pop acts have shaped local listening habits and industry practices since the mid-2010s.
