Polka Wars is a Jakarta-based indie rock group formed in 2011, currently comprising Karaeng Adjie, Xandega Tahajuansya, and Giovanni Rahmadeva. Founding member Billy Saleh departed in 2020. The band emerged during Jakarta's urban indie rock wave of the early 2010s, maintaining an independent approach without major label backing. Over their career, Polka Wars has released two studio albums and one mini-album, establishing themselves within Indonesia's evolving independent music landscape. Their DIY ethos reflects the broader post-Reformasi indie scene in Jakarta, where bands cultivated followings through live performance and digital distribution rather than traditional industry infrastructure. Operating independently has allowed the group to develop their sonic identity on their own terms while remaining active contributors to the capital's alternative music community.
