Stephanie Poetri

Stephanie Poetri Dougharty is a Jakarta-based singer-songwriter and record producer who launched her music career in 2017. Working within contemporary pop informed by R&B and bedroom pop sensibilities, she writes primarily in English, reflecting the bilingual fluency of Indonesia's urban youth generation. In August 2019, Poetri signed with 88rising, becoming one of the first Indonesian artists on the pan-Asian collective's roster—a move that positioned her within a transnational network connecting Southeast Asian, East Asian, and diaspora artists to global audiences. As a self-producing artist, Poetri maintains creative control over her output, embodying the DIY ethos that characterizes Indonesia's post-2010 independent music wave. Her digital-first distribution strategy has cultivated a fanbase that extends beyond Indonesia's borders, making her representative of a generation of Indonesian pop artists operating outside traditional geographic and industry constraints. She continues to release music through 88rising while based in Jakarta.
