White Shoes & The Couples Company (often abbreviated WSATCC) is a Jakarta-based pop, funk, and jazz band formed in 2002. Their sound draws from 1970s Indonesian film soundtracks, 1930s jazz, disco, and 1960s pop — a retro aesthetic that distinguished them within Jakarta's early-2000s indie scene, a period marked by post-Reformasi cultural experimentation. The band is signed to both Aksara Records (Jakarta) and Minty Fresh (Chicago), making them among the first Indonesian acts to secure American independent-label distribution. WSATCC's meticulous nostalgia for Indonesia's cinematic golden age, paired with organic instrumentation and contemporary pop craft, has earned them a devoted following domestically and critical attention abroad.
